Today I Move Across the Country

Wow. It’s actually here.

With all the busy of packing and saying goodbye it is almost surreal. The morning seems quiet peaceful at home with the animals and Airen drinking coffee. Almost like any other morning.

But, today, we begin to drive to Pittsburgh. Admittedly it’s a out of the way route, but we are beginning it.

Crazy.

Being Sent Out

It was a total honor to be prayed over this Sunday. We are excited about moving on to the next stage in our life, but overwhelmed a bit by leaving so many people that we love.

In case you missed it on Sunday or on facebook yesterday, here is the video:

2nd Service Prayer for Erik & Airen from Erik Germesin on Vimeo.

Good News!

Things are coming together as we get ready to move.

  • There is an offer on the house now! Pray that it is the offer that gets the house sold!
  • We also got an offer on our car. Which we are taking. (Thanks to Tony V. for fencing it for us!)
  • Moving truck is secured.
  • Road trip is planned.

Also having interesting conversations with Foursquare peeps. Excited!

Impossible

Was listening to a message from Perry Noble and he told a story that totally rings true to me.

A friend asked him what he would do for God if he knew he could not fail. Perry replied, “I would start a church.” So his friend said back to him, “Then you’re a coward if you don’t.”

We serve a God of the impossible.

What would you do for God if you knew you could not fail?

A Grand Master Plan

I’m working on a secret project.

I can’t tell you what it is yet, but I decided that I wanted to do something to bless church planters. More details after this weekend when I roll it out.

The Big Question

Just to let everyone know  in blog/facebook land (and to save myself from having to answer this every 10 minutes or so) we are moving June 7th. This will be a week and a half after my last week on staff at LFC.

Our trip will take a little over two weeks and includes stops in:

  • Orange, CA
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Big Spring, TX
  • Dallas, TX
  • Harrison, AR
  • St. Louis, MI
  • Pittsburgh, PA

Other FAQ’s:

  • Q: What are you doing when you get there? A: For a month or two we are getting jobs, finding a place to live, and in general getting to know the city and the people.
  • Q: When are you starting the church? A: We have no idea, the exact timing is up to God and my Church Planting coach, but is probably in 2011.
  • Q: Can I be praying for you? A: Yes! Just click here and fill out this quick and easy form so I have your email address.

Church Planter’s and Leaders – Answer Me This

What are the best free resources that you are aware of that have helped you to be the church God called you to be?

Team LFC

Had a chance to talk at Team LFC about the time line for our move. The support and love that Airen and I receive from our church just blows us away. What an honor it has been to be a part of this family for the last six years.

There is a funny thing about family though. My Mom (who lives in Lompoc) is still my Mom even though I am going to live across the country. Distance doesn’t change anything.

All that to say: LFC will always be family, we just won’t be able to see ya’ll every week anymore.

My Crazy Family

From Hebrews 2:11 – “Since the One who saves and those who are saved have a common origin, Jesus doesn’t hesitate to treat them as family” (The Message)

Isn’t it a trip to think that God packed himself into a human package?

More crazy than that is to think that Jesus treats us as family. I don’t know about you, but in my family everyone is crazy. I wonder if Jesus feels the same way.

I mean He would be the “head of household” for this big family of faith we have. So we have to wonder what he thinks about his children sometimes. You know that he loves us no matter what, but at the same time I know that, like any parent, He would just like us to listen to what He’s telling us to do!

Unusual Solutions

Recently my MacBook crashed and burned. (Let the record show, for all you Mac player haters out there, that it was totally my fault.)

So I backed up most of my important stuff and reinstalled OSX. After I was done I went to reinstall iLife and the dang thing wouldn’t read the disc. Thinking it might be bad I grabbed a different one and tried it, to no avail. Some disc’s still worked, but I was  having issues. So I went to Google and typed in my problem and ended up on a Mac help forum. They suggested the following:

Hold the MacBook upside down and insert the disc. Wait for it to finish loading before you return the MacBook to it’s original orientation.

I thought to myself, “There is no way this chumpy plan is going to work.” But, I was desperate so I went ahead and did it.

As a side note, if people come into your office while you are holding a laptop upside down trying to look at the screen they look at you like you are crazy.

It worked.

I think this is a lesson to me as a church planter and that it could be one for you too.

God has people do unusual things in the Bible. Abraham - Go kill Issac. Moses - Your staff will become a snake. Jesus - Die on that cross.

Perhaps what I need in order to plant a church and you need to deal with a situation in your life, is a Holy Spirit guided unusual solution.

Don’t be afraid to look a little crazy.
