Calling is a funny thing.

People sometimes expect pastors to have a burning bush or an angelic visitation. That’s not really how it works most of the time.

I knew that God was calling me to start a new a church when I was nineteen. Almost ten years ago. I didn’t know how long the wait would be. I didn’t know where I would be going.

God began to tug on my heart again in 2008 that he wanted me to start a church that would make him known in a major metropolitan city. So my wife and I began to fast and pray and looked at cities where we felt we could make a difference.

Picking Pittsburgh was a combination of common sense and prayer. Confirmed by other praying people who we love and trust. It’s a city where God wants to be known.
